Painting Week at Trasierra with Leonie Gibbs. May 16th – 23rd 2010
May is probably the loveliest time of year in Andalucia and Trasierra is right in the heart of acres of rolling olive and orange groves, clotted with wildflowers of every shape and colour. The air is filled with birdsong and the heavenly aromas of orange blossom, lavender, jasmine and wysteria. It is a veritable explosion of Spring which, together with the contrasting shapes of the agaves, prickly pears and vast terra cotta olive vats make Trasierra a paradise for painters, luring even the most timid beginner to take up a pencil or paintbrush and head for the hills or a quiet courtyard.
Leonie Gibbs is a hugely talented painter from Scotland and an enthusiastic and spirited teacher who will encourage her pupils to find inspiration in their surroundings and to produce some work that they never thought they could possibly do.
There will be a yoga lesson every day and a masseuse in residence who will ease away any stiffness caused by long hours at the easel and leave you ready for more.
The food at Trasierra is healthy, delicious and mostly home grown and the cellar is well stocked with a variety of Spanish wines. There is of course always plenty of pata negra jamon. You will get breakfast, a picnic or buffet lunch and 3 course dinner by firelight.
The price per person for 7 nights, full board is 999 euros.

"Trasierra is big enough to allow privacy for all. Cobbled paths ramble beside the whitewashed walls tumbling plumbago and,jasmine- draped terraces, courtyards and cottages. Magestic terracotta olive jars stand guard while white doves swoop"
